Roman Read.

I was very lucky this year to have an unexpected trip to Rome come up for me.  My husband was going to be working in Europe and he planed a trip to Rome for us-the first time for both of us.  I really wanted to learn all I could about Rome before we went and I remembered a book I had read a few years earlier about Roman History.  I am a huge fan of Historical Fiction and this book was not only very interesting, but also very educational.  When I researched the book, I had the unexpected pleasure of finding that the author had written a sequel since I had read the first book.  The author is Steven Saylor and the first book is called "Roma, The Novel of Ancient Rome." The sequel I read was called "Empire, The Novel of Imperial Rome."

Both are wonderful books.  It was really wonderful for me to read the book "Empire" while I was visiting Rome.  So much of the history that I would hear about on my tours was already familiar to me from reading the book.  It's a great way to understand so much of the history you are seeing if you ever get the chance to visit Rome.  If you can't go physically, it's a great way to read about and understand one of the greatest civilizations in history.  Great Books!  Click here to read more about them on Amazon.
